RENDEZ-VOUS

/

RENDEZ-VOUS' first domestically produced car is the KPGC10 model Skyline 2000 GT-R, commonly known as the 'Hakosuka GT-R.' This car has gained worldwide popularity and has frequently appeared in classic car auctions such as RM Sotheby's. In 2014, a 1972 model was auctioned for 242,000 dollars at RM Sotheby's auction in Monterey, USA, attracting global attention. It's astonishing considering that the original price at the time of release was 1.54 million yen.

The popularity of the Skyline began with the 3rd generation 'Hakosuka.' It made its debut in July 1968 as a sedan with a 4-cylinder 1500cc engine. Two months later, the 2000GT with a 2.0-liter inline-6 engine (L20) was introduced and instantly became popular. In February 1969, the top model '2000 GT-R' (PGC10) with a 2.0-liter inline-6 engine (S20) was released.

About two years after the sedan's debut, the coupe model GT-R (KPGC10) was introduced in 1970. The coupe body configuration shortened the wheelbase by 70mm compared to the sedan, reducing the overall length by 15mm and lowering the car's height by 15mm, making the vehicle 20kg lighter. This improved the sports performance, and the Skyline solidified its position as an iconic Japanese sports car. At that time, it was not called a coupe but rather referred to as a 'hardtop.' Some also referred to it as 'Skyline 2000 GT-R 2HT' (Two-Door Hardtop). The GT-R featured a unique front grille, fender mirrors, and black riveted overfenders that covered the rear wheel arches, giving it a rugged appearance.
